architecture & environment

in this module we worked in groups to analyse residential and green buildings to better understand sustainable design and the importance of implementing them.

01

assessing daylight & thermal comfort at modern houses

in this project i explored how natural elements like daylighting and thermal conditions impact human comfort in residences. strategies such as solar-reflecting tiles and light shelves were explored as a reaction to the challenges. additionally, this is my first exposure to 3d software programs to efficiently convey visually complex information

green buildings in malaysia

we chose the S11 House as it showcases how sustainable living can blend seamlessly with modern comforts, paving the way for eco-friendly architecture. It advocates for responsible design practices without sacrificing luxury, with innovative design such as wind turbines to maximise stack effect and water features to compliment cross ventilation with evaporative cooling.

reflection

i liked how we had to go to real world sites in order to conduct a comprehensive analysis. having on-site experience and engaging with industry-leading professionals like AR Dr Tan Loke Mun, was the highlight of the module for me and has given me more knowledge and wisdom on the topic.
