architectural design ii
this module covers the core principles and methods of design thinking—analysis, abstraction, and synthesis—applicable across various design fields, including architecture. the focus is on "user and context," exploring how users interact with the natural environment. students will engage in studio exercises, starting with architectural precedent studies to understand space and construction, followed by exploring form and space through conceptual design. the module culminates in designing a small freestanding structure that meets user needs while integrating with the site context.
01
diagramming architectural principles
for the first project we had to learn drawing conventions for different architectural principles. diagramming was a skill that later proved to be very useful with the other projects
02
nature observatory post
in this group project, we had to conduct a thorough site visit to 'Taman Botani Negara' to learn about soil conditions, noise pollution, views etc. all of these site conditions are what informed us to create this observatory tower design
03
the hideout retreat
for this penultimate project we had to put everything we learned up to this point in terms of diagramming site responsive design and architectural principles to create a design a retreat home for up to 4 users. this project really challenged my spacial planning and to play with space and structure,

reflection
this semester has been a journey in really developing my architectural skills. starting with learning drawing conventions, i got a solid grasp of diagramming. The hands-on experience for project 2 was key when it came to my final project. it pulled together everything i'd learned about site-responsive design and spatial planning, challenging me to be creative with space and structure. overall, it was a semester where each project built on the last, making me more confident in my approach to design
